The Master of Arts in Fine Arts (MA) graduate degree programme is a module-based master’s research degree at 180 credits for those interested in extended research in one or more areas of the Fine Arts. It is intended as a distinct award for those either not wishing to undertake or not yet ready for doctoral study but with an interest in sustained and in-depth study of current practise. This may include but not be limited to painting, sculpture, photography, music, poetry, architecture, theatre and dance or be multi-disciplinary. Media may be physical or digitally based. Research should be of a standard above that of the BA but not at that of doctorate.

As an American-validated degree at postgraduate level, this award prepares you to study further and would normally lead to a place on either a higher masters research degree or doctoral study.
Entry requirements
Students for this qualification must already hold either a Bachelors degree in an appropriate subject or an equivalent diploma of at least 120 credit hours equivalent
Students at should have a knowledge of their field equivalent to graduate level before commencing study alongside the required pre-requisite qualifications. Students would also usually be expected to be practitoners of professional standard in order to demonstrate a practical application of the skills they will develop.
How much time do I need?
- Most of our students study part time, completing 60 credits a year.
- This will usually mean studying for 6-12 hours a week.
