The Certificate of Victoria College (CertVCL) is a multidisciplinary, liberal arts diploma awarded by the College to students for individually designed awards. It enables candidates to undertake a combination of subject options from different areas of the College to allow them to creatively explore themes more widely and in differing mediums than the primary diploma courses allow.

Assessed at a standard equal to the Licentiate diploma, the exact course content and output is negotiated with the Director and mentors are assigned as appropriate. Candidates are encouraged to explore interests across faculties and disciplines rather than being restrained by genre.

Examples could be a seres of original poems inspired by a critical analysis of a selected writer, an original extended multimedia presentation on a theme or a mixture of theoretical written papers alongside solo performance elements. Key elements regardless of content are a sound understanding of the chosen topic, critical analysis of the context and the application of the candidates findings in their selected field.

Entry Requirements

Prospective candidates should ideally hold an award at or equal to an Associate diploma (enquire with the registry for equivalency of qualifications) for entry to the Certificate in a subject relevant to at least part of their proposed project. However candidates with a proven track record of experience are also encouraged to consider the programme.

Admission

Candidates seeking admission to this programme should first contact the College to explore their idea informally. Where necessary a subject tutor may discuss this further to ensure the College can support their intended topic.

If initially accepted candidates should then complete the course application form and then present a short proposal of their intended work (500-1000 words) which will be considered and either accepted or given suggestions for revision.
