The Diploma course is broadly equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate course at university and provides a strong theoretical basis for the study of musical theory. This diploma will develop your understanding of music theory from general to more in-depth through study of traditional harmony, counterpoint and the various skills that are the building blocks of Western music. You’ll undertake different tasks built around separate areas as well as combining the technical elements of music with history as preparation for the final exam.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

Students at any level of practical musical skill can take this qualification but before commencing study you should have a knowledge of music theory equivalent to UK A level, as the course begins at this level and progress to more advanced musical concepts and techniques.
