The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) graduate degree programme is a higher masters research degree at 36 credits for those interested in extended research in various areas of the arts and arts education. It is intended as a distinct award for those either not wishing to undertake or not yet ready for doctoral study but with an interest in sustained and in-depth study. Research should be of a standard above that of the MA but not at that of doctorate. Recorded performances and approved multimedia and digital materials may now be included within the submission, along with an academic thesis of the standard length as appropriate.
Because of the diversity of research topics possible, the MPhil programme at Victoria College does not involve a core taught component. There are required elements as part of the course but in general students will be working primarily with their individual supervisor following a bespoke pathway.
